Cruise ship docks in Boston with two corpses onboard

October 30th, 2011 — 5:01pm

Cruise ship docks in Boston with two dead on board.

Sounds like the perfect start to a murder mystery, except… Massachusetts state police and FBI agents have seemingly said that the deaths were not caused by foul play.

instead, the unrelated deaths of a woman, 67, Tiverton, R.I., and man, 23, from Littleton, N.H., aboard the Norwegian cruise liner Norwegian Dawn, sailing back from Bermuda is just like terrible luck.

It's not the only terrible luck to befall the Dawn by the looks: in 2005, the ship — sailing back to New York from the Bahamas  — was hit by a freak 70-foot wave that, according to MSNBC, "smashed windows, sent furniture flying and ripped out whirlpools" on the ship. not to mention frightening passengers, who spoke outrageously of their "Titanic" moment.

the wave reached seven stories, as high as deck 10 on the ship, company spokeswoman Susan Robison said.

fast forward to 2011.

the authorities seemingly said both died of natural causes (even if the 23-year-ancient's cabin had been "processed" for possible prove), their deaths were not related, and their names would not be released.

the ship, with 4,000 on board, docked the Black Falcon Cruise Terminal in Boston around 6:30 a.m. Friday, according to the Boston Channel.

Miami-based Norwegian Cruise Line said the ship was returning to Boston after a seven-day cruise to Bermuda.

According to the Norwegian Cruise Line's website, the Norwegian Dawn can carry 2,224 people, including 1,073 crew members. the ship comes equipped with a doctor and a nurse, and keeps common medications onboard.

The Boston Globe reported that disembarking passengers said they had not been told of the deaths.

"in the absence of criminal charges, no further details will be released," read a statement from the DA's office.

When Is It Time For A Change?

October 30th, 2011 — 5:01am

CHANGE, what does this word exactly mean to each individual? according to Merriam-Webster.com it means to give a different position, course, direction, or become different. for me change can mean a lot of different things. Right change is achieved when we take new actions without having to think about them. Many of us over think, hesitate, and fear making changes. why? I am not sure why, it must just be human nature. we may believe we have changed but it is life’s conditions that are our right judge at the end of the day. Life is a cycle of destruction and creation; you can either embrace it or let it go to shit, plain and simple. there are those that are constantly making positive changes to better their lives and there are those that choose to settle and not make changes at all. then there are those that don’t feel like they need to make any changes because they are pleased with the way everything is already, and if that’s the case then fantastic for those people. Change is a constant in life and you can either adapt and benefit or resist it and be left in the dust

As the actual glossary defines change, I think when it says a different course or direction it means what exact kind of change are you going to make? Is it being a better person, being successful, a better parent, husband/wife, student, eating healthy, exercising, ect. All of these are considered a new direction and course in life. First and chief you have to ask physically what am I willing to sacrifice to make this change? Long-distress reality doesn’t mean we have to settle for where we are right now, but we must be honest with ourselves, which is a critical component of creating meaningful change. for example, if you are broke but lie to physically saying you have fiscal wealth, you are not varying anything. You are deluding physically and worse, creating an hindrance to right change. if you are hefty and unhealthy, yet tell physically you are lean and healthy, you are lying to physically while impeding positive change. Faking it until you make it will not work.

Change requires growth and willing to let go of certain things in the past or certain beliefs. Once we become comfortable within the constructs of what we think we are, it’s hard to let go, even if we don’t like the construct this brings me to what I like to call the Battle Within, which is the battle each and every one of us has inside our heart and souls that we deal with everyday. we all have tragedies, losing loved ones, alcohol/drug addictions, fiscal problems, self- image issues, and all of the above. we all have a touch going on in our lives that sometimes holds us back or changes our lives dramatically, and for those that don’t, god bless you. my personal Battle Within is getting over the death of my father, still till this day I am fighting that battle. Even if I have made many changes throughout the years and I still plan to evolve as a person, at the end of the day that pain and anger is still inside of me and it won’t seem to go away as much as I have tried. I know eventually with time it will go away and I will over come this battle for excellent. I have never asked anyone for help or their sorrows because it is my battle to fight and overcome. my point being is we cannot make changes unless we face these battles and win them. So recognize your Battle Within, accept it, be mentally tough, and defeat it Or else you will never move forward.

Many people dismiss thoughts and opportunities on the spot. this usually comes from fear, that genuineness to new thoughts and opportunities will irrevocably change them. Yet their fear of change is irrational, since change is going to occur whether we like it or not, sometimes for the better and others for the worse. Avoiding opportunities to grow and reinvent ourselves is not only disastrous, it’s plain dumb. we have only so many opportunities in life to grow and improve and they should not be taken lightly because with a blink of an eye they are gone. in reality, I see so many people and can tell that they are miserable with their lives, but yet they don’t do anything about it. Instead of having the courage to make positive strides in the right direction, people sit back and accept it because they feel as if that’s all their worth or their not meant for bigger and better things, it’s sad. You can’t feel bad for these kinds of people because you know if they really want to make a change they can, but they won’t because they have a bag full of excuses. sometimes we don’t accept reality, even when it slaps us in the face.

At some point we have to evolve as people and strive for enormity. we have to become less self absorbed and become part of a touch much more cheering, such as living with purpose. we have to get outside of our comfort zones and be more open minded to change and realize the the makings we all have. Close-mindedness impedes personal growth and enhancement. When we stop thinking, someone else will do it for us and when that happens, then failure is headed in our direction. it doesn’t matter what achievements you have made, or any fame you might attain, without purpose, none of it matters, like it or not. there has to be at least one change in your life that you want to make, even if it’s a small one, it’s still pushing you in the right direction. I am not here to tell people what they should and shouldn’t do with their lives; I am just trying to open your eyes to reality. Reality can be very tough to face, but we have to at some point and if you don’t you will never evolve as a person. Peace and God Bless Everyone

Grimm’s Fairy Tale – Interpretation of the Young Giant

October 29th, 2011 — 5:01pm

The Young Giant is one of the many strange and significant fairy tales that never became well loved. It starts as many fairy tales do, with a statement that it most surely had not happening just. The farmer of the tale has a child who is a thumbling. It is fascinating to note how many people of the past would commonly have thumblings within tales, such font could indicate and awareness of the events occurring to them and what these meant.

From about 900 AD to 1200 AD people in Europe where about as tall as they are today, then over time their average height started to drop. It is fascinating to note how valuable nourishment is to height, and how the incidence of a thumbling does seem to indicate poverty in folktales. At the same time of course making the main character a thumbling is in part to make their feats all the more significant, and in the case of this tale that feat is the growing of the thumbling into a giant. for as the thumbling is in the field with his father giant comes and tales him away. this female giant then acts as a mother to the thumbling nursing him for years and making him grow and grow. after the now young giant has grown for a while his new mother takes him into the woods and has him rip up a sapling, but this does not satisfy the giantess who decides that the young giant needs to be nursed some more to get stronger. Three times the giant tears up trees in the forest before his new mother is satisfied, when he rips up the largest oak tree in the forest and snaps in half.

After pleasing his adoptive mother with his might he goes back to his parents, who at first are worried of him, denying that he is their son. He but does win over them of their relationship, after which he plows all for them without the aid of horses, and then carries the horse’s home. The son questions his father for a staff, and his father then tries his best to provide one, but the young giant breaks each staff given to him by his father. Realizing that his father can no longer provide for him the young giant leaves home.

It is fascinating to note that when he was a thumbling all he wanted to do was help his father, when he grew he did great work for a brief period but left his parents as they could no longer help him. Surely in order for the Age of Exploration and the Manufacturing Era’s to occur family did have to start leaving their parents in mass rather then staying at home to help them. As one might anticipate from such an event the young giant goes to find a smith, donation to work for the smith in return for the right to hit him. The smith being greedy agrees to these terms. The giant but cannot do much good at the forge for he is too strong, so after providing a hit he takes a rod of metal as his staff and leaves.

The Giant then offers to work for a bailiff in return for the right to hit the bailiff after a year. The Bali also being greedy agrees to this. after this the giant performs his duties well; but he hinders the other workers in secret to make himself look better. He sleeps in and in truth the work itself is not that hard for him due to his huge size, this is hardly the work ethic people might associate with peasants and others of the Pre-Victorian eras. this does seem to indicate a certain amount of desire to be a lazier, and to look better then was in fact possible. further as the Young Giant ends the tale by hitting both the bailiff and his wife, sending them soaring through the air for nearly forever, there seems at all times to be some desire to hit those who are in charge especially should such people be greedy. In many ways the aspects of this tale, the funny way in which the giant works, and the bosses are greedy and punished for it makes it an equivalent to a modern day office comedy. While such comedies cannot be taken absolutely seriously they do strike on a certain amount of truth with regards to the feelings towards the social structure of the time.
